The spare parts team in our Frankfurt, Germany office aims to satisfy our European, Middle Eastern and African customers with quick response, short delivery times, the best 24-hour service when the need arises. To achieve this they have created an optimized logistics setup, which delivers the needed parts very quickly.
In a recent example, the team delivered a much needed, very rushed part, in only 24 hours from the original call for help.
Here is a sample of the service level that our Frankfurt office delivers, especially when it comes to support during machine breakdowns:
“At 11:00 in the morning of November 2, we received an urgent request from a customer in Norway,” explains Fátima, Customer Service Representative at BW Papersystems Frankfurt. “They had a machine breakdown and needed replacement parts as soon as possible. Within short time, a quote for an oversized, almost 5 meters long item was sent to the customer. Standard delivery would have taken one week, but due to the emergency of the situation, we had to find the fastest way possible to deliver this large part. Air freight was out of question due to the length of the crate, therefore a road transport was the fastest and most cost efficient option. We had to find a dedicated truck right away! Even more, two drivers would have to make shifts to cover the 16 hours long drive (1400 km) and to cross three countries and the Northern Sea in one go. And that is not all… there was another difficulty with this delivery. Since Norway does not belong to the European Union, customs clearance had to be done at the border without delay. Our customer did not have a local broker who could help, but we were able to locate a customs broker who would monitor the import process at the border.”
Everything was set up, and at 10 am on November 3, it reached the border at Sweden. After customs clearance, it was delivered at the customer’s plant by 11 am, only 24 hours away from the original call for help.
Optimized logistic processes and 24-hour availability at BW Papersystems Frankfurt allow same day deliveries by road to customers in Germany and all neighboring countries. Moreover, with the international airport minutes away from the warehouse and the next flight out option, the Frankfurt office also convinces when it comes to airfreight deliveries worldwide.
BW Papersystems Frankfurt and its customer service is a shining star in the corrugated industry and accepts any challenge, seizing every opportunity to serve.

A new world record of 4,082 consecutive, successful splices was set by Jean Carlo Cerdas of New England Sheets. Jean Carlo Cerdas successfully made every splice he attempted from November 11, 2013 to July 15, 2014.

Representatives from MarquipWardUnited and New England Sheets celebrated the new record with Cerdas on Friday October 10, 2014. Cerdas was presented an embroidered world record jacket and, in keeping with the traditional belt-buckle theme for the MarquipWardUnited Century Club, a World Champion Splicer Operator Belt.

The record was set in coordination with the MarquipWardUnited Century Club Program in which operators are recognized for achieving 100, 500 and 1000 consecutive splices without a miss. Enrollment in the program requires a training session with MarquipWardUnited Splicer Trainer John Podmolik, who audits the machines, materials and practices before providing detailed instructions on getting the best out of a MarquipWardUnited machine.

Cerdas’ new world record of 4,082 eclipsed the previous world record of 3,741 splices without a miss set by Tony Jimenez of Independence Corrugated, Oak Creek, Wisconsin on March 10, 2014. It is no coincidence that both recent world reord holders are from Schwarz Partner Plants. Independence Corrugated commissioned software to automatically track, and continuously display operator performance by machine. This technolgy and the Century Club Program has been embraced by all Schwarz Partner facilities with many operators now over the 2,000 mark and counting.

“I’ve never seen a more kind, generous, compassionate culture in any organization. To be honest, I didn’t believe it existed outside my mind. It’s been a life-changing day for me.”
That was what Harvard Business professor Amy Cuddy had to say about her visit to two Barry-Wehmiller facilities in northern Wisconsin last weekend. She was joined by our friend, author and thought leader Simon Sinek, to begin researching our company for a potential joint writing project. If you’re not familiar with Amy, much of what she writes and speaks about (her Ted Talk is the second most viewed!) deals specifically with how body language affects interaction. Her thinking in this area is very much in alignment with what we teach through Barry-Wehmiller University.
Simon is a good friend of the organization and featured us in his book, “Leaders Eat Last.” Although he has visited with our team members many times, he also came away touched by what he saw:
“This organization is built for people to exist together as human beings are meant to exist with each other,” Simon said. “We are built to take care of each other. What we witness here at Barry- Wehmiller is human beings as they are meant to be. Unfortunately we see it as the exception when it should be the rule.”
